It is with deep sadness that we have to advise the membership that Marion Francis lost her battle with cancer on 16 February. Marion had been a committed member of Illawarra Ramblers for well over 20 years. She served on the committee for 8 years and was a prolific leader of activities and a fountain of knowledge regarding walks in and around the Illawarra and Sydney. She wanted to know all the history of her walks and was keen to share her knowledge with her walkers. She will be sadly missed by all walking and cycling members who knew her. She had a beautiful happy, smiling face, and a wonderful sense of fun. Farewell Marion, you were much loved and will never be forgotten by the members of the Illawarra Ramblers.
It was suggested that it would be a fitting tribute to Marion to have a Memorial Walk in her honour. A short walk has been organised at Killalea, an area where Marion led many of her walks. It will take place on Friday 15th March, and will start at 9.30am. You may just like to join us for morning tea and coffee at the kiosk around 11.00am. It will be a wonderful opportunity to share our thoughts and memories of a great lady. More details are in the program.
