Welcome to our new secretary, Heather

A couple of times during this Rambler’s year the committee has sought volunteers to either fill roles previously unoccupied, or fill a vacancy created by the incumbent moving far away.  By far the most important was Penny Lovibond’s move to Canberra leaving us without a secretary.  On a temporary basis, until or before the AGM, Jim Cowling stood in while we awaited somebody with an eye to a more permanent assignment emerging.

Jim was more than delighted to hear that Heather Yeatman has recently stepped forward.  Jim’s such long-term commitment to the club and filling gaps wherever they appear are reasons why he is so revered by the membership.  Again Jim, Thank you.

Heather is known mostly as a paddler and as an occasional rider, more conspicuous by not (yet) resorting to an e-bike.  We head into our next committee meeting next week looking forward to Heather’s contribution.  Your appreciation of her filling the role could include voting for her, for the next year, at the 13th December AGM.  Thank you, Heather.

Another vacancy will occur when another gadabout Caroline Hudson goes long time travelling in 2025. Caroline has been Activities Recorder whose role is to “Monitor activities undertaken and recording these activities and participants in a spreadsheet“.  This job can mostly be done remotely.  Some excel or compatible desktop experience helpful.  Speak to a committee member or myself if interested in helping.  Please consider how you could contribute to the direction, professionalism and high community standing our club enjoys.  7 meetings a year at the Illawarra Yacht Club.  Thank you, Caroline.
