Illawarra Ramblers recently received an email from Amelia Harrison at the University of Wollongong Medical School asking for volunteers to help with her exercise study aimed at improving the health of older adults.
The study is focused on using a stationary cycling exercise program that also incorporates backwards resistive (eccentric) cycling during sessions. The aim is to observe both heart and muscle training adaptations and benefits from using this unique form of exercise. The study will run over 12 weeks and participants will gain insight into various measures of heart and muscle health (ECG, aerobic fitness, DEXA, ultrasound, etc.
