If you are participating in bush walking, cycling, or kayaking this is potentially a life saving app for your mobile phone.  It gives you direct dialing to 000 for emergencies, the SES or the Police.

What does the Emergency Plus App do?

The app uses a mobile phone’s GPS functionality and what3words, so callers can provide emergency call-takers with location information as determined by their smart phone. With what3words available within the Emergency Plus app, your exact location can be confirmed quickly and accurately in the event that rescue or other services need to find you.  Invaluable in the bush, it is also useful on bike paths where you are not close to roads or perhaps are not familiar with your immediate surroundings.

Emergency Plus has been used a few times by Ramblers Club members to assist in incidents involving injury.  It is a useful app to have whatever outdoors activity your are enjoying – with the club, with friends or with your family.  It can be downloaded from the Play Store for Android phones and the App Store for iPhones.
