The club has two PLBs available for loan to leaders who are undertaking activities in areas where normal communications may not be available.  Understanding how a PLB works will assist in thinking through where and when to activate the device.  The National Parks Association has put together a very instructive explanation of the communications involved and guidelines on using PLBs including and some do’s and don’ts.
