Members who are E-bike riders are required to take out individual insurance with Bicycle NSW. You need to login first then click here to get a 15% discount code.
E-bikes must meet the NSW Government requirements for permitted e-bikes.
Before participating in an activity, please familiarise yourself with our Grading and Guidelines and in particular, check that your equipment is in good condition.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the advertised start time to prepare, sign on and be ready for the pre-activity briefing.
Please do not attend any Ramblers Club activity if you are not feeling well.

Easy coastal ride. Cycle path and best beach scenery. Mostly flat and relaxed riding. A couple of stops. Coffee at Thirroul then return by the same route

Sat 25 Jan, 2025 Walk: Maddens Plains to Mt Mitchell Return
Another attempt at beating the rain and the heat. We will start at 8am to try and return before it gets too hot or it rains! This is a walk that you must be reasonably fit to do. It is undulating, with great views and wonderful trees and other flora.
Mon 27 Jan, 2025 Cycle: Skiway Park to Shellharbour through Blackbutt Forest
Ride on shared pathways past Shellharbour Hospital, under Lake Entrance road (beware of glass) and then through Blackbutt Forest to Shellharbour surf club for coffee. Return via Barrack Point and Reddall Reserve.
A bit of a climb to the ridge in the forest.

Ride through Minnamurra wetlands, the headland, Kiama Downs and Gainsborough to Swamp Road cycleway then Jamberoo Road and into Jamberoo.

A lovely summer walk from Shellcove village to Bass Point then on to Bushrangers Bay. Some beach walking and rock scrambling. Optional Thali lunch at Shellharbour Village Indian Restaurant after the walk.

Three days walking in Snowy Mountains based in a lodge in Thredbo. Walking will be grade 3 to 4 but there can be some flexibility. Some walks may require use of chairlift to start.
Cost for accommodation will be dependent on numbers, probably around $350.

Mon 10 Feb, 2025 Trip Away: Paddle Tallowa Dam 2 night out
Paddle from Tallowa Dam on Lake Yarrunga to Fossickers Flat on the Shoalhaven River for one night camping out of kayaks and then paddle to Beehive Point on the Kangaroo River for another night of camping out of kayaks before returning to Tallowa Dam. Both campsites have long drop toilets but no other facilities. The first day’s paddle is only about 13 km to Fossickers and the second day is around 20km being the 13 km back to Tallowa Dam and another 7 km to Beehive Point. The third day is about the 7km back to Tallowa Dam. These are minimum distances only, if participants wish to they can explore further up or side branches.
Cars will be parked at Tallowa Dam and there is camping at the dam for either before or after the three days. All paddlers must be self sufficient with food, cooking equipment, tents, sleeping bags/mats, toiletries, water, medications/first aid supplies etc. A full list will be supplied to participants.
Wed 12 Feb, 2025 Walk: Six Waterfalls, many swimming holes!
This is a combined walk with Shoalhaven Bushwalkers. Several Ramblers enjoyed this last time. Although it is a short walk, it is mostly off track. Starting at Parma Creek Fire Trail, we’ll make our way downstream past 2 waterfalls to a beautiful waterhole just below Parma Creek / Sandy Creek junction. After this we follow Sandy Creek upstream, past 2 more waterfalls before returning to cars.
We’ll then drive round to the Parma Creek, Hell Hole Fire trail before making our way down a track to the Upper and Lower falls. A leisurely day – ideal for people wanting to try off track for the first time. Andy said that there will be ample oppportunity for those with the unusual afflication of jumping into cold water and telling everyone how good it is! (Thats me)

Thu 13 Feb, 2025 Walk: Moonrise & Sunset at Towradgi
A sunset walk from Towradgi through Bellambi dunes, returning via the expansive beaches at mid tide. Bring food for refreshments during and after the astronomical events. The Park is an alcohol free zone. Carry something warm in case of cool breeze.
Sat 15 Feb, 2025 Walk: Mini Ha Ha Falls and Kangaroo River Walk
Joint walk with Shoalhaven Bushwalkers. Following cancellation of this walk in November. Parking at the end of Upper Kangaroo River Rd. Firstly we will follow this rainforest (Gibson) Creek up to the base of Mini Ha Ha Falls rock scrambling in places. We should be able to pick up the remains of an old road for an easier but not as scenic return journey. Once back to the cars we’ll change into walking sandals/Dunlop volleys or shoes we don’t mind getting wet for our crossing of the Kangaroo River (ankle to calf deep). This we may cross numerous times and will travel as far upstream as the group wishes. Definite swimming possibilities. Map: Kangaroo Valley.

Sat 22 Feb, 2025 Walk: Ben’s Walk and Bomaderry Creek
Starting at the Nowra Showground, we walk a circuit through an amazing Paperbark forest beside a creek that has great reflections on a sunny day. Then we drive to the Bomaderry creek gorge and walk another circuit with rock formations on the banks anf in the creek.
Wed 26 Feb, 2025 Walk: Berrara Cascades Loop
Another Combined walk with Shoalhaven. This walk is mostly Grade 3 with a couple of Grade 4 sections. Starting at Berrara Lagoon Reserve, we’ll walk on track to the intersection with Berrara Creek. From there we’ll head upstream through some delightful Cascades (dry feet!) Then we’ll retrace our steps and continue on to the Walter Hood Memorial. After this we will walk along the beach rocks (tide and swell will determine the difficulty of this section) followed by a definite wade across Berrara Creek where it enters the sea to get back to our cars.

Mon 03 Mar, 2025 Cycle: Austinmer Station to Port Kembla Beach, swimming in the Rock Pools
The annual classic ride swimming in 5 or 6 of our great rock pools.
Riders welcome who don’t want to swim. Swimmers welcome who don’t want to ride. Coffee drinkers welcome who just want coffee
Bring lunch for consumption in the shelter shed at Port Kembla Pool. Train home from Port Kembla.

Walk from Central along the old Goods Train Line to the Japanese Gardens, through to Darling Harbour, then Tram back to Central.
Thu 06 Mar, 2025 Training: First Aid Training for Paddlers
Deanna Stratford from Directions Health will be training paddlers in senior first aid specifically for kayakers. This will involve the usual CPR and patient management processes for all the usual injuries and maladies. This will take up the morning session (~3 1/2 hours) and then in the afternoon she will be running sessions on rescue techniques (2-3 hours). This will involve on the water activities to practice the theoretical concepts.
Participants will receive a certificate of competency as having completed this first aid course. There will be on-line reading/study etc to be done prior to the day.
Participants will either need to bring some lunch or obtain close by. It is planned for 1 hour lunch period.
The cost of the course is $110 which is subsidised 50% by the Club.

Wed 12 Mar, 2025 Walk: Giles Baths Coogee to Ben Buckler, swimming in 4 iconic rock pools and optional 2 beaches.
Train/bus to Coogee. Swim at Giles Baths, Clovelly Pool, Bronte Pool, Tamarama Surf (optional), Bondi Icebergs $10 entry) final surf at Bondi (Optional) and a historical walk to Ben Buckler. Bus/train home. Full day out.
Wear light clothing. An idea below.
Bring swimmers comfortable to walk in, a light towel, comfortable walking sandals. Coffee most likely at Coogee or Bronte.
Lunch at Bondi.
Meet on train. 2nd last carriage.

Sun 16 Mar, 2025 Trip Away: Walking and Paddling at Murramarang National Park and Batemans Bay.
5 Nights, 4 full days staying within Murramarang National Park. 3 Days forest and coastal walking, grade 3 level, half a day walking in the impressive Eurobodalla Botanic Gardens, and 2 optional paddles suggested so far, organised by Helen Moody. One paddle would be a half day outing on Durras Lake launching adjacent to the caravan park, the other dependent on weather, either Batemans Bay bridge to Nelligen or Batemans Bay to Big Island return. Paddlers doing the Bateman’s Bay paddle would miss one of the walks.
Overnight at Lakesea Caravan Park sandwiched between Durras Beach and Durras Beach, with basic 1 room, and fully equipped 2 or 3 bedroom cabins, powered, unpowered and ensuite sites.
