Before participating in an activity, please familiarise yourself with our Grading and Guidelines and in particular, check that your equipment is in good condition.

Around the lake and via Macquarie Rivulet to the cycle path alongside the freeway.  After crossing Tongarra Road we cycle through Croom Reserve then back across Tongarra Road and on to HARS for coffee.   A slightly shorter route back to Skiway.  Lake and pastoral views.

All Illawarra Stations train to Wolli Creek  7:08 Port Kembla, 7:18 Coniston, 7:23 North Gong,  7 ;27 Towradgi, 7:39 Thirroul,  7 ;44 Coledale. Riders coming from the Dapto line  board 6:54 at Oak Flats etc CHANGE at Coniston and wait 3 minutes for the train from Port Kembla.

Head off towards Dulwich Hill on the Cooks River Trail, ride the GREENway to the Bay Run crossing Iron Cove Bridge, more Bay Run back to the Greenway, Dulwich Hill and Wolli Creek. Train home. Ride the long awaited link connecting the Cooks River to Iron Cove adjacent to the Light Rail.

We will start at Byarong Park and walk Mt Keira ring track in a clockwise direction. A steady uphill walk to start with then steeper down and then up with steps. The main flight of steps will be downhill followed by the rainforest section. Morning walk with an early start.

On the early, slow,  fairly empty all stations train leaving Port Kembla at 7:08, Coniston 7:18 North Wollongong 7:23, Towradgi 7:27, Thirroul 7:39, arrive Wombarra 7:47.

If coming from between Kiama and Unanderra, catch the 6:37 from Kiama,  6:50 from Shellharbour, 7:04 from Dapto, etc.

et off at Coniston and wait 3 minutes for the train from Port Kembla.

On this date there should be no school traffic. There is a 60 metre uphill start then very quiet and pleasant  5km backstreet traverse to Austinmer, then steep downhill. From Thirroul onto usual coastal shared path to coffee at Longboard cafe at City Beach. Finally ride 4km to Coniston station.

Specific Hazards: There are 37 shallow steps to carry our bikes to street level. Please prepare to help your friend carry his/her bike. Steep downhill into Austinmer Specific Abilities: Helping your fellow Rambler to carry bike to street level. Compared to the steep 62 steps at Coalcliff this is a doddle.

Starting at the Parma Fire Trail ford across Parma Creek, we’ll follow the fire trails for just over 2km to our first waterhole in Sandy Creek. We’ll then. leisurely,perambulate downstream from waterhole to waterhole. There are so many swimming opportunities that you could lose track as to whether you’re striding or stroking!! Once we get to the second waterfall (accompanied by yet another waterhole), we’ll make a call on which way to return to our cars. As you can see from the distance, this isn’t a high intensity walk – low key dawdling, relaxation and fun is the theme. If you are wondering about what Grade 4 walks are like, this is an ideal one for you to dip your toe into the water (sorry)!!

A paddle to see beautiful scenery and to introduce those new to kayak camping to the equipment required and the joys involved!
