Pre-registration and number of participants are at the discretion of the leader.
Registration and participation implies your Acknowledgement of Risk and Obligations.
Members who are E-bike riders are required to take out individual insurance with Bicycle NSW. You need to login first then click here to get a 15% discount code.
Before participating in an activity, please familiarise yourself with our Grading and Guidelines and in particular, check that your equipment is in good condition.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the advertised start time to prepare, sign on and be ready for the pre-activity briefing.
Please do not attend any Ramblers Club activity if you are not feeling well.
Fri 22 Nov, 2024 Cycle: Stuart Park to Thirroul
Easy coastal ride. Cycle path and best beach scenery. Mostly flat and relaxed riding. A couple of stops. Coffee at Thirroul then return by the same route
Arrive by 8:15 for briefing and 8:30 departure.
Sat 23 Nov, 2024 Walk: Fisherman’s Beach to Honeymoon Bay (Currarong)
Joint Walk with Shoalhaven Bushwalkers. Starting at the Lighthouse Road/Fishermans Beach track junction, we’ll walk into Fisherman’s Beach. From here, we’ll traverse rock platforms to Little Target Beach and Target Beach (possible short sandy creek crossing to get onto Target Beach). From here we’ll go to Silica Cove for a look at a ship wreck before returning to Honeymoon Bay. There’ll be an optional off-track option to traverse into Honeymoon Bay from Lashies Point. Swimming opportunities for those with a penchant for immersing themselves in cold, salty water. Short car shuffle at the start and finish. Confident rock hopping required.
Mon 25 Nov, 2024 Cycle: Towradgi to Towradgi via Stuart Park and Thirroul
An easy coastal ride, heading south to begin then reversing up the track to Thirroul for coffee.
A nice way to start the week. Easy riding. Great scenery. Little traffic. Safe Path. An ideal ride for cyclists to try out with a small group.
Tue 26 Nov, 2024 Cycle: Lady Carrington Drive Audley
Starting at Audley Weir, we will ride south along Lady Carrington Drive to Sir Bertram Stevens Drive intersection and return (20km). All dirt fire trail surface, with some rocky gravelly sections – ie appropriate tyres with sufficient tread required. Late coffee or lunch available at Audley Weir Café or alternatively, BYO and enjoy in the adjacent picnic area.
Lady Carrington Drive | NSW National Parks
For those wishing to undertake the optional 8km Loftus Loop trail after lunch, we will drive to the start point in the carpark off Audley road above Audley Weir where we will first visit Bungoona Lookout. We will follow Temptation Creek Trail down to the water crossing, rising out to Rawson Parade Trail where we will reach Loftus Oval. We will check out the aptly named; ‘Ziggy and Zaggy’ switchback trail before following the tram line trail back to the carpark where we started. Although everything is walkable, due to the steeper and rockier section of the Temptation Creek Trail, this optional part of the ride is only suitable for those riders with mountain bikes.

Sat 30 Nov, 2024 Walk: Minnie Haha Falls and Kangaroo River Walk
Joint Walk with Shoalhaven Bushwalkers. Parking at the end of Upper Kangaroo River Rd. Firstly we will follow this rainforest (Gibson) Creek up to the base of Minnie Haha Falls rock scrambling and quite steep in places. We should be able to pick up the remains of an old road for an easier but not as scenic return journey. Once back to the cars we’ll change into walking sandals/Dunlop volleys or shoes we don’t mind getting wet for our crossing of the Kangaroo River (ankle to calf deep). This we may cross numerous times and will travel as far upstream as the group wishes. Definite swimming possibilities.
Tue 03 Dec, 2024 Cycle: Mount Annan Botanic Garden
Mainly on one-way road with little traffic. We will ride for about an hour then stop at the cafe for coffee. Undulating most of the way, a few short very steep sections. Beautiful views. Detour through adjoining suburb alongside Narellan Creek to Lake Yandel’ora. BYO lunch.

Minnamurra Station – walk the coastal track to Jones Beach – some road walking to Cathedral Rock – swimming at the beautiful Boneyards beach – Bombo Headland & Geological Site – Bombo Beach – another swim at Kiama Rock Pool – Kiama Station – train back to Minnamurra Station (PS It’s all about swims & icecreams).
Mon 09 Dec, 2024 Cycle: Christmas Bike Ride
A leisurely ride from Wilson Memorial Park to Barrack Point and return. Mostly cycleway with some quiet streets and a hill at Barrack Point.
Decorate your bikes and wear something to suit the occasion. Coffee and cake at Warilla Beach Cafe on the return journey.
Non riders welcome. Arrive at Warilla Beach about 10:00

The AGM and Christmas Party will be held at the Warilla Bowls and Recreation Club, Jason Avenue, Barrack Heights .
The AGM will be held at 5pm in the Sapphire room.
The Christmas Party starting at 6pm in the Diamond Room.
Come along for some good company, good food and entertainment by some of our talented members.
Cost will be $44.50 per person for a two course meal (main and dessert) and tea or coffee.

Train to Stanwell Park, Friday 5k & Koffee.
Exploring “Paradise’s” back tracks past Lawrence Hargraves House, through Chellow Dene, peeping into the disused Otford Tunnel, past the past residences of past rich or famous, eventually koffee at the Police Station, more circuitous trekking, past a reputed murder scene and finally to Coalcliff Station.

For the early risers in the club, the Summer Solstice Sunrise Walk is on again. Bring your own breakfast to have while watching the sunrise over Lake Illawarra. Walk to Tallawarra and back and stay for optional morning tea before returning to your usual pre Christmas activities.

Fri 10 Jan, 2025 Walk: Coledale to Thirroul. A Friday 5K & Koffee Summer Walk along the Beaches.
Bus to From Thirroul to Coledale.
Walk the beaches on return to Thirroul. Koffee at Thirroul, Most likely At Martin Place.
Wear either beach walking shoes or sandals which can also handle the occasional slippery rock and also the footpath.
Meet outside Thirroul Library for 8:33 Bus to Stanwell Park. Route #2
Bring Swimmers. Austi pool will probably look inviting.
Tue 11 Feb, 2025 Trip Away: Paddle Tallowa Dam 2 night out
Paddle from Tallowa Dam on Lake Yarrunga to Fossickers Flat on the Shoalhaven River for one night camping out of kayaks and then paddle to Beehive Point on the Kangaroo River for another night of camping out of kayaks before returning to Tallowa Dam. Both campsites have long drop toilets but no other facilities. The first day’s paddle is only about 13 km to Fossickers and the second day is around 20km being the 13 km back to Tallowa Dam and another 7 km to Beehive Point. The third day is about the 7km back to Tallowa Dam. These are minimum distances only, if participants wish to they can explore further up or side branches.
Cars will be parked at Tallowa Dam and there is camping at the dam for either before or after the three days. All paddlers must be self sufficient with food, cooking equipment, tents, sleeping bags/mats, toiletries, water, medications/first aid supplies etc. A full list will be supplied to participants.
Mon 03 Mar, 2025 Cycle: Austinmer Station to Port Kembla Beach, swimming in the Rock Pools
The annual classic ride swimming in 5 or 6 of our great rock pools.
Riders welcome who don’t want to swim. Swimmers welcome who don’t want to ride. Coffee drinkers welcome who just want coffee
Bring lunch for consumption in the shelter shed at Port Kembla Pool. Train home from Port Kembla.
Wed 12 Mar, 2025 Walk: Giles Baths Coogee to Ben Buckler, swimming in 4 iconic rock pools and optional 2 beaches.
Train/bus to Coogee. Swim at Giles Baths, Clovelly Pool, Bronte Pool, Tamarama Surf (optional), Bondi Icebergs $10 entry) final surf at Bondi (Optional) and a historical walk to Ben Buckler. Bus/train home. Full day out.
Wear light clothing. An idea below.
Bring swimmers comfortable to walk in, a light towel, comfortable walking sandals. Coffee most likely at Coogee or Bronte.
Lunch at Bondi.
Meet on train. 2nd last carriage.
Sun 16 Mar, 2025 Trip Away: Walking and Paddling at Murramarang National Park and Batemans Bay.
5 Nights, 4 full days staying within Murramarang National Park. 3 Days forest and coastal walking, grade 3 level, half a day walking in the impressive Eurobodalla Botanic Gardens, and 2 optional paddles suggested so far, organised by Helen Moody. One paddle would be a half day outing on Durras Lake launching adjacent to the caravan park, the other dependent on weather, either Batemans Bay bridge to Nelligen or Batemans Bay to Big Island return. Paddlers doing the Bateman’s Bay paddle would miss one of the walks.
Overnight at Lakesea Caravan Park sandwiched between Durras Beach and Durras Beach, with basic 1 room, and fully equipped 2 or 3 bedroom cabins, powered, unpowered and ensuite sites.
