Sun Protection – A reminder!

An ABC news report has highlighted that the latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics indicates more than 60 per cent of Australians over 15 have spent at least 15 minutes a week exposed to peak ultraviolet radiation from the sun.

However, only about half of those surveyed took three or more recommended sun protection measures, such as using sunscreen, wearing a hat, or staying in the shade during their most recent exposure.

In December 2023, the Australian Institute of Sport released a joint Sun Safe Sports Position Statement alongside several national organisations, including the Cancer Council, officially recognising participation in outdoor sport as a factor in the development of skin cancer.
